Miss U ‘live’ on ABS-CBN

1 comments | Read more...

The most beautiful woman in the Philippines, Janine Tugonon, vies to become the most beautiful woman in the universe as she competes in 2012 Miss Universe pageant in Las Vegas, airing live via satellite tomorrow, Dec. 20, 9:30 a.m. after Kris TV.

After Shamcey Supsup’s third runner-up finish last year, the whole country has high hopes that Janine will take home the crown this year.

Pageant fans are raving about Janine online as she rocked the preliminaries and conquered the stage with her signature cobra walk, wearing her evening gown, swimwear and national costume. Many believe that Janine is a strong competitor and has a big chance in winning the title.

According to pageant expert Noel Berioso of OPMB Worldwide, an accredited online Philippine pageant site by the Miss Universe Organization to cover this year’s Miss Universe, Janine is one of the favorites after she got handpicked to participate in various pre-pageant activities among 88 other gorgeous women.

Noel cited that Janine was chosen to join Miss Cayman Islands in a special photo shoot for hair sponsor CHI; be part of a fundraising for kids and the Jubilee theater tour in The Bally’s Las Vegas; and   recently, talk about the Miss Universe benefit auction with Miss USA in an interview with Fox television.

International pageant website GlobalBeauties.com also chose Janine as the top pick among Asian candidates this year and is one of the predicted top five countries in the competition.

Since the pageant is delayed this year compared with the previous years, Janine has more time to prepare herself in every aspect making her more fit to compete for the crown.

But in the end, Janine’s fate still lies in the hands of the judges that include singer-songwriter Cee Lo Green, world series champion and MVP Pablo Sandoval, photographer Nigel Barker, singer-actor Diego Boneta, TV personality Scott Disick, celebrity stylist Brad Goreski, award-winning chef Masaharu Morimoto, Miss Universe 2012 Ximena Navarrete, Olympic gold medalist Kerri Walsh Jennings and TV star Lisa Vanderpump.

Dingdong Dantes: I will never ever forget 'One More Try'

1 comments | Read more...
Dingdong Dantes.
One More Try lead star Dingdong Dantes (photo) did not expect but was truly delighted when he received another movie offer from Star Cinema, especially that it is an entry to the annual Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF).

“Fresh from Segunda Mano, sinabihan na agad ako na I’m gonna do another project with Star Cinema. Hindi ko naman ini-expect it’s for MMFF again kaya parang nostalgic ‘yung experience,” offered Dingdong. “Star Cinema gave me a very good experience sa first project ko with them. Kaya nung nalaman ko na may isa pa, syempre natuwa ako and I was looking forward sa new memories na mabi-build ko doing One More Try na true enough naman ay isa namang pelikulang talagang hinding-hindi ko malilimutan.”

Under the direction of Ruel Bayani, One More Try features a modern-family drama about a mother’s immeasurable love to her son who is dying. In the story, Dingdong will play the character of Edward, a dedicated husband to Jacq (Angelica Panganiban), whose courage and character will be tested when her old friend Grace (Angel Locsin) re-enters his life with their son who is desperately in need of his father’s help.

According to Dingdong, aside from the unique beauty of the plot of One More Try, he immediately accepted the project because of the top-caliber actors who are part of it.

“First time ko nakasama si Angel. Kasi kahit na noong nasa GMA pa siya, hindi kami nagkaroon ng pagkakataon na magkatrabaho. Although si Angelica nakasama ko na sa Segunda Mano at si Zanjoe (Marudo) sa Kimmy Dora, first time namin magsama-samang apat sa iisang pelikula,” said Dingdong. “Every day I learned so many things from different people — kung papano sila sa set, kung gaano sila ka-professional towards their work, how much they love their work and how to make an awesome product while you’re having fun.”

Dingdong is also happy of the extraordinary,  courageous plot of the movie. He said, “Kung gaano siya kabilis mag-evolve as a story, ganoon din siguro kabilis ang magiging impact niya sa audience. Dahil sa pagkakaroon ng isang bata eventually it turned out to be more of a family drama film than an adult type of movie na alam naman natin na karamihan nang pinalabas this year ay may ganoong tema.”
“Natutunan ko na minsan kasi may mga choices ka na gagawin na maaaring hindi tama sa nakararami pero para sa ‘yo morally and spiritually ay para sa ikabubuti ng taong mahal mo,” said the actor. “In the film, they will realize na beyond the conflicts of relationships, ultimately ay uuwi ka pa rin sa family mo which is perfect para sa isang film festival dahil panahon ang Pasko kung kelan nagsasama-sama ang mga pamilya.”

Also in the cast are Carmina Villarroel, Agot Isidro, Edward Mendez and Gina Pareño.

Experience love that makes you do the impossible and accept the unacceptable. One More Try will be shown in theaters starting Dec. 25.

GMA Network hosts digital trade launch

0 comments | Read more...

GMA Network, Inc. (GMA) embraces transmedia as the country’s leading multi-media company hosted its first digital trade launch on November 28 in Makati City.

Spearheaded by the Network’s marketing subsidiary GMA Marketing and Productions, Inc. (GMPI), the event incorporated several digital elements in presenting new advertising platforms to members of the trade. The trade launch also allowed guests to experience various Kapuso programs “the digital way.”

From the paper-less registration to the augmented reality wall that greeted attendees upon entrance, the Kapuso event showed clear indications that GMA is fully adopting new technology.

“We recognize that transmedia is key in today’s media industry. The focus has shifted from simply attracting more viewers to actually engaging them to play a more active role in many aspects of programming,” said GMA Network Chairman and CEO Atty. Felipe L. Gozon on the future of television.

“Hence, as we continue to strive in keeping our status of being the country’s nationwide ratings leader and the preferred network of our valued partners in the trade, we are also faced with the challenge of becoming more relevant in today’s fast-changing media landscape,” Gozon added.

During the trade event, several interactive booths were put up to further showcase GMA’s offerings for the first quarter of 2013 including its coverage of the forthcoming election period for which GMA has allotted a significant amount. Dubbed "Eleksyon 2013," the coverage is set to be the biggest, widest and most comprehensive election coverage on TV.

“Digital technology has changed the way viewers consume media,” said GMPI President and COO Lizelle G. Maralag.

“This 2013, we are all about charting new grounds as we introduce new and innovative ways to deliver the desired results of our advertisers, from the digital to classical media platforms,” she added.

GMA introduced mobile applications that allow users to scan actual items, images or codes to gain access to a variety of content from its popular TV Shows. These applications also serve as venues for advertisers to have their own promotional activities for their products.

However, despite the changes in the way viewers behave, GMA maintains that content still is and will always be the primary driver when it comes to viewership. “Keeping this in mind, GMA Network will continue to provide quality programs that will cater to the changing needs and preferences of viewers,” said Gozon.

GMA’s top management led by Gozon, GMA President and COO Gilberto R. Duavit Jr., GMA EVP and CFO Felipe S. Yalong, and Maralag, along with the Network’s pool of stars and news and public affairs personalities graced the said occasion.

According to a release provided by Star Cinema, One More Try depicts a loving single mother Grace (Angel) who is willing to sacrifice everything to save her son from a life-threatening disease.
All seems well in Grace’s life, especially with the comfort of her son Botchok (Miguel Vergara) and boyfriend Tristan (Zanjoe) who is supporting her. But when Botchok’s rare blood condition becomes more severe, Grace is left with no other choice but to reconnect with Edward (Dingdong), Botchok’s biological father, an accomplished man married to a more successful and powerful woman Jacqueline (Angelica).
